McHenry Announces Two Signees
Lady Blues basketball coach Ron McHenry has announced two signees during the early signing period.

TOPEKA, Kan. -- Lady Blues basketball coach Ron McHenry has announced two signees during the early signing period. Rossville, Kan. product Dana Channel and Highland Community College product Amy Green have signed to play for Washburn beginning in the 2010-11 season.

The Lady Blues are 1-0 and ranked No. 18 in the USA Today/ESPN WBCA Coaches Poll. They will travel to Springfield, Mo. tonight to battle Drury.

* Dana Channel • 5-10 • Fr. • G • Rossville, Kan. • Rossville High School * McHenry on Channel: "Dana is a very versatile player. She has the ability to score off the drive and from the perimeter. She is a strong rebounder and has the ability to play all three perimeter spots. Dana has been coached well by her father Jim, her high school coach at Rossville High. She has a great feel for the game and what it will take to become a great college player."
Channel is a three-time All Mid-East League selection earning first team honors all three seasons...She was also named honorable mention all-state as a sophomore and junior when she averaged 14 points, seven rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.3 steals per game.

Amy Green* • 5-10 • Jr. • G • Gardner, Kan. • Highland Community College/Olathe Christian High School* McHenry on Green: "Amy has the ability to score. She can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket as well as play a mid-range game. Her strength is in making plays for her and her teammates. Amy sees the floor well and can pass the basketball. She is a player that can play in a system and play open court basketball. She is part of a program (Highland C.C.) that is off to one of the best starts in program history.
Green was a an all-KCAA selection at Olathe Christian where she averaged
15.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as a senior...helped lead Olathe Christian to the 2007 NACA Division III National Championship...is currently averaging 18 points and 9.3 rebounds per game for Highland Community College
