NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Buck Afenir goes 2-for-3 with two R-B-Is
and sophomore left-hander Nick Czyz records his first conference
win of the baseball season as Kansas beats Oklahoma 6-to-3 today.
Kansas moves to 21-and-26 overall and 7-and-13 in Big 12 play
while O-U is 28-and-16 and 8-and-9.
Kansas jumped ahead 3-nothing in the second inning, with two
runs scoring on Brock Simpson's triple off O-U starter Heath
Taylor, who fell to 7-and-2.
O-U pulled within 3-to-2 in the third, but Czyz blanked the
Sooners for the rest of his six-inning stint and moved to 3-and-6
on the season.
O-U outhit the Jayhawks 10-7 but hit into two double plays and
left 10 runners on base.
Paul Smyth recorded his sixth save of the season for the
Jayhawks, allowing one run in 2-and-two-thirds innings.
Aaron Ivey led O-U offensively, going 3-for-4. Jackson Williams
and Zach Hedges added a pair of hits each for the Sooners.
