DeJesus Scratched from Lineup

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Center fielder David DeJesus, who was
second in the American League with 25 hits, is a late scratch from
the Kansas City Royals lineup with a sore left ankle today against
the Minnesota Twins.
DeJesus injured the ankle while running the bases in the first
inning Saturday, but remained in the game. DeJesus ranked eighth in
the AL with a .347 batting average, second with eight multi-hit
games and fourth in runs (15) and total bases (40).
With DeJesus out, that created wholesale changes in the Royals'
lineup. Mark Teahen switched from right to center Reggie Sanders,
who was the designated hitter, moved to right field. Mike Sweeney,
who was not in the original lineup, was inserted as the DH.
Second baseman Esteban German replaced DeJesus as the leadoff
hitter.
