KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Nick Punto sparked a two-run seventh
that allowed Minnesota to beat the Royals 7-to-5 at Kansas City.
Punto snapped a five-all tie with an R-B-I triple before scoring
on Joe Mauer's sacrifice fly. Punto provided two of the Twins'
season-high 16 hits.
Mike Redmond went 3-for-4 with R-B-I singles in the second,
fourth and sixth innings. Mauer finished with two R-B-Is and Torii
Hunter delivered two hits and scored twice.
Pat Neshek (NEE'-shehk) struck out the side in the sixth and
improved to 2-and-0. Joe Nathan also fanned the side in the ninth
for his sixth save.
Joel Peralta blew a 5-to-4 lead and fell to 0-and-2, allowing
two runs in two-thirds of an inning.
