Topeka, Kansas, April 4, 2007 ----- Four-time American Professional Football League Champions the Kansas Koyotes announce an exciting record fifth season for 2007. Adding three new teams to the league and 11 game schedule, the Koyotes will be kicking off their season with an away game season opener taking on the Fort Worth Texas Regulators on April 15th and launching their home opener at the Kansas Expocentre on Saturday April 21st against the powerful Iowa Blackhawks.
“Our league is getting more stable and stronger every year bringing Northeast Kansas great indoor smash mouth football from April through July,” says Ralph Adams, Kansas Koyotes General Manager and President of the APFL. “We’re glad to continue to bring high quality, affordable family entertainment giving our fans a great show in one of the fastest growing sports in the United States.”
The Koyotes’ schedule includes returning rival teams the Iowa Blackhawks and the Missouri Minutemen with the addition of new teams Ft.Worth Regulators and Conroe Storm from Texas and the Springfield WolfPack from Missouri. Last year’s regular season champions, the Wichita Aviators are taking a one year hiatus from play.
Jim Green, Head Coach for the Koyotes, has put together a strong and lightning fast team with players and coaches coming from Washburn, KU, K-State, Emporia State, Baker University, Coastal Carolina University, Bethany College, Sterling College and Ottawa University. “We can’t wait until we unveil our guys this year. We have 23 returning players along with 13 new acquisitions. We’ve got some incredible surprises this year. It’s going to be fun,” says Coach Green.
