Heartland Park Topeka To Recognize Slain Teen

TOPEKA, Kan. (April 19, 2007) – The first Waste Management “Think Green” Dirt Track race is set to take place Sunday, April 22nd at Heartland Park Topeka. HPT will recognize Nacole Winter during opening ceremonies, a local teenager who was slain in 2006. Nacole was an avid dirt track fan whose brother races at Heartland Park Topeka.

Gates will open at 4:00 pm, hot laps begin at 5:00 pm and racing begins at approximately 6:00 pm. Nacole’s brother and friends will make 3 parade laps during opening ceremonies and there will be a moment of silence in her honor as well.

Waste Management and Keep America Beautiful is encouraging everyone to bring their recyclable plastics for a chance to win prizes. Recycling bins will be located at the Ticket Office outside Gate A. Tickets for the races are $5 for adults and children 2-12 are only $1.

Heartland Park Topeka, a multi-purpose racing facility located in Topeka, Kan., annually hosts NHRA POWERade drag racing, the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and many other pro and amateur drag racing, road racing, and dirt racing events throughout the race season.
