Hornet Volleyball Inks Three In Early Signing Period

Emporia State head coach Bing Xu has announced the signing of three players during the early signing period to attend ESU and play volleyball for the Hornets.

Kenda Ely is a 6-0 middle hitter from Inman High School in Inman, Kan. She was a second team Class 2A All-State her senior season. She was also All-Heart of America League and Hutch News All-Area. She recorded single season record 325 kills, 88 blocks and had a .970 service percentage during her senior season. She has 979 kills and 214 blocks over her four year career with the Teutons.

Amanda Gerety is a 5-10 outside hitter from Seaman High School in Topeka, Kan. She is a two-time all-state selection as well as being a two time All-Centennial league and All-City selection. The Vikings have been sub-state champions four times during her career including finishing third in Kansas class 5A the last two years.

Paige Vanderpool is a 5-11 outside hitter from Lee's Summit West High School in Lee's Summit, Mo. During her senior season she was named first team All-Regional and first team All-Conference. She was also named second team all-district. The Titans won the State Championship during her sophomore season and finished as the state runner's up the following year.

The Hornets finished the 2009 campaign with a record of 29-6 and made their third straight trip to the NCAA Divsion II National Tournament.
