Baseball Equipment Drive Set for April 23rd

:KANSAS CITY, MO (April 16, 2007) – Royals Charities and the Baseball Tomorrow Fund will team up for the third annual Royals Charities Baseball Equipment Drive on Monday, April 23, prior to the Royals 7:10 p.m. game against the Chicago White Sox. This year’s Baseball Equipment Drive will benefit Della Lamb Youth Services. Royals Charities volunteers and the Royals Wives will be collecting new and gently used baseball and softball equipment from 5-7 p.m. at Gates A and B of Kauffman Stadium. All types of baseball equipment are requested, including gloves, baseballs, bases, batting tees, bats, batting helmets, shoes and uniforms. Fans donating equipment will receive a Baseball Tomorrow Fund magnet and scorecard, while supplies last. In addition, Della Lamb Youth Services will receive a $5,000 donation from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund. The check presentation will take place on Friday, April 20, prior to the Royals 7:10 p.m. game against the Minnesota Twins. Della Lamb Youth Services is a program of Della Lamb Community Services, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non- profit corporation that has been serving low-income Kansas City families since 1897. The Youth Services program uses youth rallies and other after-school activities to reach more than 1,000 area youth. The Baseball Tomorrow Fund is designed to promote and enhance the growth of baseball throughout the world by funding programs, field improvements and equipment purchases all in an effort to encourage and maintain youth participation in baseball and softball. Since its inception in 1999, the Baseball Tomorrow Fund has awarded grants totaling more than $9 million and benefiting more than 100,000 youth.
