Lady Blues Fall To Oklahoma State; Topeka's Riley Starts For OSU

STILLWATER, Okla. -- A 15-point halftime deficit was too much to overcome for the Washburn Lady Blues in a 67-46 exhibition loss to Oklahoma State on Tuesday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Lady Blues will have their final exhibition game of the season on Sunday at 1 p.m. against the Ichabod Golf Team in Lee Arena.

Washburn fell behind early 7-2, but seemed to settle down and closed to within three at 15-12 with 8:17 to play in the first half. The Cowgirls, however, closed the half on an 18-6 run and led 33-18 at the break. Hope Gregory led Washburn in the first half with 11 points, but was one of just three Lady Blues to score in the period as WU struggled, shooting 29 percent, 6-of-21, from the floor.
The Lady Blues opened the second half on a 10-3 run to get within eight at 36-28 with 15:38 to play. OSU responded with a 14-4 run to open an 18-point cushion with nine and half remaining. Washburn was able to cut the deficit back to 11, but could get no closer as the Cowgirls closed the game on an 11-1 run.
Gregory led the Lady Blues with 13 points on 4-of-8 shooting and pulled down six rebounds. Amanda Fessenden had eight points and five boards as Washburn committed 29 turnovers.
Washburn shot 52 percent in the second half, 11-of-21, and finished 17-of-42 for 41 percent for the game.
Andrea Riley led Oklahoma State with 28 points, while Tegan Cunningham chipped in 10.
