Royals Win Despite Perez's Early Exit

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) _ Mark Teahen (TEE'-ehn) hit a three-run
homer as Kansas City beat the Texas Rangers 7-to-5 today in spring
training. It was Teahen's fourth homer of the spring.
Ross Gload and Mike Sweeney also homered for Kansas City, and
Mark Grudzielanek (grud-zuh-LAHN'-ek) was 1-for-3 for the second
straight game after returning from knee surgery.
Royals starter Odalis Perez left after three innings because of
a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand. Perez says he
won't miss a start, but manager Buddy Bell isn't as certain

The Royals gave 13-year veteran Alex Gonzalez his release, in
spite of hitting .444. Gonzalez came to camp on a minor-league
contract trying to win a utility spot.
