KANSAS CITY, MO (March 28, 2007) – The Kansas City Royals have announced that Kauffman Stadium will open for a special preseason workout on Sunday, April 1 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Fans are invited to watch as the Royals take the field one final time in preparation for their Opening Day game against the Boston Red Sox on Monday, April 2. “There’s a lot of excitement surrounding the team and Opening Day,” said Kevin Uhlich, Royals Senior Vice President – Business Operations. “We wanted to take this opportunity to give our fans a sneak preview of the 2007 team and have some fun at the ballpark with some great give-a-ways.” The Royals will hold prize drawings throughout the workout, giving fans a chance to win items such as autographed merchandise and season ticket packages, as well as an opportunity to throw out the First Pitch prior to a Royals home game during the upcoming season. Prize drawings will take place every 15 minutes starting at 2:45 p.m. Fans will also have one last chance to purchase 21-game and “Buy Two, Get Two” season ticket packages that include Opening Day tickets. Packages start at just $189. Royal Lancers and Royals sales representatives will be at the stadium showcasing available seat locations during the event. Fans looking to avoid the Opening Day rush can shop in the Kauffman Stadium Team Stores that will be open during the workout. In addition, hot dogs and small drinks will be sold for $1 each. The event will also include a visit from Sluggerrr and an opportunity for the kids to play at the Little K. Fans are encouraged to park in Lot M and enter Kauffman Stadium through Gate B next to the George Brett statue. Gates will open at 2:30 p.m., and activities will conclude at 4:30 p.m. For more information, members of the media may contact the Royals Publicity Department at (816) 921-8000
