SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) _ The Kansas City Royals optioned first
baseman Justin Huber to Class Triple-A Omaha of the Pacific Coast
League today.
Huber, who is from Australia, hit .391 in spring training, but
he had only 23 at-bats as he missed several games with a hamstring
injury. He hit .216 in 30 big-league games the past two seasons.
The Royals also optioned infielder Andres Blanco to Omaha.
Catcher Adam Donachie joined the Royals after clearing waivers.
He was in camp with the Baltimore Orioles and hit .263. The Royals
assigned him to Omaha.
General manager Dayton Moore also said right-hander Luke Hudson
will start the season on the disabled list because of soreness in
his shoulder.
Hudson was projected as the number-five starter. Either Brandon
Duckworth or Brian Bannister will likely replace Hudson in the
rotation.
