MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) _ David Hoskins scored the go-ahead basket
with 33 seconds left as Kansas State came back to beat Vermont
59-to-57 tonight in the first round of the N-I-T.
Vermont (25-8) led 51-to-39 after trailing by as many as eight
in the first half. But the Catamounts missed eight shots and had
three turnovers in the final five minutes.
After Blake Young tied the game at 55 with two free throws,
Vermont inbounded the ball with 51 seconds left. Chris Holm lost
the ball, and Hoskins scored to give K-State the lead.
Cartier Martin scored 19 points for Kansas State (23-11), and
Hoskins had 13.
Martin Klimes led Vermont with 16 points and Holm had ten points
and 14 rebounds.
