Kansas hopes to avoid first-round exit

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ It wasn't long after Kansas finished
soaking in a surreal Big 12 tournament title that post-season
reality set in.
After losing in the first round of the N-C-double-A tournament
two straight years, will there be another Jayhawk jinx?
Probably not, at least in the first round.
The Jayhawks are the top overall seed and will play the winner
of a play-in game between ME-AC champion Florida A-and-M and Metro
Atlantic champion Niagra.
The last time the Jayhawks (30-4) got a Number-One seed was in
2002, when they made the first of two consecutive Final Four
appearances under Roy Williams.
Things have been a bit rocky since then.
As a third seed in 2005, K-U lost to 14th-seeded Bucknell. Then
as a fourth seed last year, it was Bradley that sent the Jayhawks
home early.
