Shawnee Heights graduate Tyler Gonzalez has won two rounds at the Division II National wrestling championships.
Gonzalez, who competes for Fort Hays State University, is wrestling at 197 pounds. He defeated Ben Janike of Minnesota State University, 6-4, Friday night to set up a showdown with top-ranked Heath Jolley of the University of Central Oklahoma. That match was due to happen late Friday.
A win would put Gonzalez in the All-America round with the final eight wrestlers. The Division II wrestling championships are being held in Kearney, Nebraska.
