EMPORIA, KAN. (March 7, 2007)--Emporia State junior forward Michelle
Stueve, and Brooke Ubelaker of Washburn have taken the first step towards being named a repeat All-American, by earning first-team All-South Central Region honors. Stueve and the rest of the Lady Hornets are preparing for the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament this weekend in St. Joseph, Mo.

Stueve led the MIAA in rebounding, and free throw percentage and is
second in the league in scoring. She is only one of six players
participating in the NCAA Tournament to be ranked in the top 50 in the
nation in scoring and rebounding and the only player on an NCAA
Tournament team to be ranked in the top 50 in scoring and rebounding and the top 65 in three-pointers made and three-point percentage.

Last year she earned second-team Daktronics All-American status and was a Kodak All-American. She is ranked fourth in career scoring at ESU with 1,696 points and moved to seventh in career rebounds at ESU with 757. Just a junior, she is already the career leader in made
three-pointers with 197 treys at ESU.

She is joined on the first team by fellow MIAA players Inga Buzoka of
Missouri Western and Brooke Ubelaker of Washburn. The teams are selected by regional members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Lady Hornets will take on Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
in the MWSU Fieldhouse in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Emporia State is one of 23 schools to have both their men*s and
women*s basketball teams in the NCAA Tournament this season. ESU is
one of only five NCAA Division II schools and the only MIAA member to
