ESU Takes Out Central

The #11 Lady Hornets jumped out to a 46-19 halftime lead and held on for a 67-50 victory over Central Missouri in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. With the win ESU advanced to the MIAA Semifinals for the 11th straight year.
The Lady Hornets outshot the Jennies .621 to .194 in the first half and held UCM to .234 shooting for the game. Andrea Leiker scored 12 points to lead four Lady Hornet players in double figures. Denisa Svarova had 10 rebounds and five blocked shots for ESU.
Emporia State will take on Washburn at 8:15 p.m. Saturday for the right to advance to the MIAA Championship game. It will be the third meeting between the two this season. WU won the first meeting 69-62 in Topeka and ESU took the rematch 74-67 in White Auditorium in front of a nationally televised audience on CSTV.
