KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ The Kansas City Royals have purchased
infielder Luis Hernandez's contract from Triple-A Omaha and placed
him in the starting lineup against the Los Angeles Angels.
Hernandez hit .204 in 22 games with Kansas City before being
designated for assignment on July 7. He cleared waivers and
accepted an assignment to Omaha.
Hernandez subbed for second baseman Alberto Callaspo on Sunday.
Callaspo was held out of the lineup for the second straight day
after fouling a pitch off his right ankle Friday.
