STILLWATER, Okla. - Former Kansas high school basketball coach Bill Annan has joined the Oklahoma State women's basketball staff as its director of player development it was announced today.
"We wanted to bring in somebody that could match the wealth of experience (former Cowgirl staff member) Bruce Erickson brought to the table," OSU head coach Kurt Budke said. "Bill Annan has over 20 years of coaching experience and has won three state championships. He is a good family man that fits in with our program's beliefs."
"We feel that we have added another solid person to the Cowgirl program that will help us continue our climb toward a Big 12 championship. I am always excited to bring new ideas into the program."
Annan had served as the head women's basketball coach at Washburn Rural (Kan.) High School since 1991 where he compiled a career record of 303-109. During his tenure, the Lady Blues captured state titles in 1996, 1999 and 2009 and produced runner-up finishes in 1998 and 2004.
Washburn Rural won 11 Centennial League titles under Annan's guidance and made nine state tournament appearances.
A three-time Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year, Annan was also a seven-time pick as the conference coach of the year.
Annan received his bachelor's degree in business education from Kansas State in 1986 before receiving his master's in educational administration from the institution in 1993.
"I feel really blessed and fortunate to be part of a great Big 12 program that can vie for conference championships," Annan said. "This is an opportunity that does not come around very often and I feel fortunate to be in this position."
Annan's duties will include overseeing the program's summer basketball camps and annual fundraising events. He will also serve as a liaison with academic services.
