Royals, Police Officers, and Wal-Mart Join Forces for Christmas w/ a Cop

The Kansas City Royals are teaming up with the Topeka/Shawnee County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge #3 and Wal-Mart this holiday season for the Christmas with a Cop event on Saturday, Dec. 9.

Several children from Big Brothers/Big Sisters will shop with law enforcement from the Topeka Police Department and Shawnee County Sheriff's Office starting at 9 a.m. at Wal-Mart, 1501 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka, Kan.

Royals Mascot Sluggerrr Claus will make a special holiday visit at 10 a.m. Following the event, Sluggerrr will join members of FOP to visit children undergoing treatment at Saint Francis and Stormont Vail hospitals in Topeka.

The contingent will visit Saint Francis Hospital from approximately 1 - 1:30 p.m. and Stormont Vail Hospital from 1:45 - 2:15 p.m.

The Fraternal Order of Police has worked with Wal-Mart for the past 13 years to provide under-privileged kids in Topeka with holiday gifts. This year, the Royals will financially support the event as well as provide items for the more than 150 children Christmas with a Cop will benefit throughout the day.
