CHIEFS AGREE TO TERMS WITH TE/FB JED COLLINS

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Thursday that the club has agreed to terms of a two-year Reserve/Future Free Agent contract with TE/FB Jed Collins. As per club policy, no further terms of the agreement were announced.

Collins (6-1, 249) originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Philadelphia in 2008. He attended training camp with the Eagles, but was released prior to the start of the regular season and added to the practice squad. Collins also spent a portion of the 2008 campaign on Chicago’s practice squad. He spent Weeks 13 and 14 on Cleveland’s active roster, but was inactive for one contest and did not play in the other. He concluded the 2008 season as a member of the Browns practice squad.

The Mission Viejo, California native enjoyed a four-year career at Washington State, registering 80 catches for 899 yards (11.2 avg.) and six TDs. He also tallied eight carries for 12 yards (1.5 avg.) with two TDs. Collins played both fullback and linebacker for the Cougars before making the switch to tight end as a junior. He finished his prep career at Mission Viejo High School.
