KENOSHA, Wisc. – Sarah Williams finished her cross country career at Kansas Wesleyan with a 26th place finish at the NAIA Women’s Cross Country National Championships at the Wayne Dannehl Cross Country Course.
Williams earned NAIA All-American honors for finishing in the Top-30 of the race, which featured 327 individual runners. She completed the 5K course in 18:05.1, just edging out Shawnee State’s Brittany St. Emmert for her finish.
Wesleyan had two other runners in the race, Kara Walker and Shanda Anderson, who both made their first ever appearance at the National Championships for KWU. Walker finished 143rd overall, running a 19:21. Anderson finished 202nd in 19:44.
Alissa McKaig of Indiana Tech won the women’s individual championship, setting a new course record while running a 16:41 for the 5K race. The old course record was 16:43 set by Emile Mondor in 2002. Azusa Pacific was the team champion, scoring 66 points to earn its first ever women’s cross country national title.
Paul Minneman was the top finisher for the Kansas Wesleyan men, who sent two runners to the National Championships. Minneman finished the 8K course in 179th place, running a 26:45. Jeremy Davies finished in 191st running a 26:51.
Aron Rono of Azusa Pacific won the men’s individual championship, completing the course in 23:45. There were 331 individual runners in the race. Malone (Ohio) won the NAIA Men’s Team Championship, scoring 61 points, bettering second place Azusa Pacific by 57 points.
