COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) _ Even though at least three games remain on
the schedule after this weekend, it's the beginning of the end of
the best four-year stretch at Missouri.
The mainstays of a group that has produced 34 victories for the
No. 13 Tigers and is headed for a fourth straight bowl game will be
honored tomorrow night before playing Kansas State.
Everybody has Senior Night, but this one has a little more
meaning. The standouts among 23 seniors -- quarterback Chase
Daniel, tight end Chase Coffman and kicker Jeff Wolfert.
For Kansas State, this week's unexpected firing of coach Ron
Prince accompanies the Tigers' 27-point edge going into tomorrow
night's game. The Wildcats have lost four of five, including last
weekend's lopsided loss to Kansas.
K-State has given up 110 points the last two games, and now
comes Missouri -- fourth in the nation with a 46-point average.
-----
Kansas State's quarterback Josh Freeman needs 102 yards to add
the school career total offense record to marks he already holds
for pass attempts, completions, yards passing and touchdown passes.
The defense has been among the worst in the nation, though,
allowing almost 34 points and 444 yards per game.
