T-Bones Finish Regular Season with Win
The Kansas City T-Bones set a new team record for home runs in a game with six this afternoon as they defeated the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in the rubber match of their final regular season series.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones set a new team record for home runs in a game with six this afternoon as they defeated the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in the rubber match of their final regular season series, 18-7, at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Kansas City also took the season series, 10-9, with their victory today.
With 5,041 in the stands, Fargo jumped on Rick DeHart for four runs in the first inning to take a quick 4-0 lead. Ruben Salazar drove in the first run with a double before Jeff Eure capped off the frame with a two-bagger of his own, driving in three. Salazar finished four-for-five with two doubles to push his average to .380 on the year, securing the Northern League batting title.
Kansas City doubled Fargo’s total in the bottom of the frame, scoring eight times on four hits against Nick Hetland to gain an 8-4 advantage. Greg Jacobs drove in the first two with a double before scoring on a double by Jim Fasano. Craig Hurba added two more with a home run to left and Aharon Eggleston capped off the frame with a three-run shot.
The T-Bones used back-to-back home runs from John Martin and Eric Scriven in the third to pull ahead 11-3. Martin drove in two with his blast. A three-run home run from Neb Brown added three more tallies for Kansas City in the fourth to finish Hetland’s day.
Hetland allowed 14 runs, 13 earned, on nine hits over four innings as he fell to 1-2. He tied the league record for earned runs allowed and home runs allowed in a contest.
Fargo picked up two more off DeHart in the sixth on a two-run single by Alan Rick. DeHart picked up the victory in his only start of the season after allowing six runs on eight hits over seven innings.
After adding a run in the seventh, Kansas City capped off their scoring with a home run from Brown, his second three-run blast of the contest. The home run set a new team record for home runs in a game for the T-Bones.
Kenny Durost allowed two hits in a scoreless eighth before giving way to Jacobs in the ninth for Kansas City. Jacobs allowed one unearned run on one hit to close out the game.
Brown finished three-for-four with a double, two home runs and six RBI to pace Kansas City. Eggleston’s home run was his sixth on the season. He entered the campaign with just three for his career.
Kansas City and Fargo take tomorrow off before beginning a best-of-five series to kick off the 2008 Northern League playoffs on Tuesday. Anthony Boughner will start game one for Kansas City opposite Broc Coffman for the RedHawks. First pitch is set for 7:05.
