CLEVELAND (AP) _ Kansas City's Luke Hochevar (HOH'-chay-vur)
left his start against Cleveland tonight with an undisclosed injury
while warming up for the sixth inning.
The right-hander had allowed seven hits over five innings and
the Royals were trailing 4-3 when he went to the mound to warm up.
Hochevar threw a couple of pitches and assistant trainer Frank
Kyte went to the mound to check on the 24-year-old. A moment later,
they walked to the dugout.
Hochevar, the first overall selection of the 2006 draft out of
Tennessee, made 85 pitches in his 23rd start of the season before
leaving. He came in with a 6-11 record and 5.44 ERA.
