SPORTING KC MEETS RIVALS THE CHICAGO FIRE UNDER FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS AT TOYOTA PARK
Sporting KC faces regional rivals the Chicago Fire on Friday night at Toyota Park. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT and will be nationally televised on NBC Sports Network. Sporting KC and the Chicago Fire have met twice already during the 2013 season with Sporting KC holding the series advantage. The teams played to a scoreless draw in their first match this year and Sporting KC secured a 2-1 victory last month also at Toyota Park.
WATCH PARTY IN THE BOULEVARD MEMBERS CLUB
Sporting Kansas City will host the team's official watch party for Friday's match in the Boulevard Members Club at Sporting Park. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. CT for a special viewing of this week's episode of MLS Insider, featuring a in-depth look at Kansas City's win over English Premier League giant Manchester United in 2010.
Friday's watch party will feature $3 KC Pils and Budlights.
SPORTING PARK TO HOST U.S. MNT IN WORLD CUP QUALIFIER
Sporting Park will host the U.S. Men's National Team on Oct. 11 in the team's final home qualifying match for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The USMNT returns to Sporting Park to play Jamaica, live on the ESPN family of networks, WatchESPN and UniMas at 5:30 p.m. CT.
Pre-sale opportunities began this week through Ticketmaster.com. On Thursday, current Sporting Kansas City Season Ticket Members will have access to an exclusive pre-sale beginning at 10 a.m. CT and ending at 3 a.m. CT on Friday. Tickets will then go on sale to the general public on Aug. 30.
Sporting Park, home to Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City, will host the U.S. Men's National Team for the third time since opening in June 2011. The state-of-the-art, $200+ million venue recently hosted the 2013 MLS All-Star Game on July 31.

PETER VERMES TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE NATIONAL SOCCER HALL OF FAME ON OCTOBER 11 IN KC
U.S. Soccer announced on Tuesday that the former U.S. Men's National Team forwards Peter Vermes and Joe-Max Moore will be inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 11, in a ceremony taking place at 2 p.m. CT on the Sprint Plaza at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan.
SPORTING KC FALLS TO THE SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES 1-0 AT BUCK SHAW STADIUM
Sporting KC lost to the San Jose Earthquakes 1-0 last weekend on a 55th minute goal from Chris Wondolowski. With the victory, San Jose extended their home-unbeaten streak to 12 consecutive matches, the longest current home-unbeaten streak in MLS.
SPORTING KC HEADS TO HONDURAS FOR SECOND MATCH OF 2013-14 CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GROUP STAGE
Sporting Kansas City defeated Nicaraguan side Real Esteli FC in their opening CONCACAF Champions League match 2-0 with goals from Ike Opara and Dom Dwyer earlier this month. Sporting KC will play CD Olimpia in their second match of CCL on Tuesday, August 27 before closing out the group stage with home matches against Real Estelí on September 17 and Olimpia on October 2.

RALLY WITH THE ROOS
Sporting Kansas City's Graham Zusi made a special appearance on the UMKC campus (5100 Rockhill Rd. just east of the Country Club Plaza) on Wednesday to support the Rally with the Roos sweepstakes. Fans had the opportunity to hang out with the MLS All-Star from 2-4 p.m. CT today and will be able to meet Sporting KC homegrown defender Kevin Ellis tomorrow from 12-1:30 p.m. CT on Thursday.

Jimmy Nielsen has been nominated for MLS Save of the Week for his diving save in the 33rd minute at San Jose. The White Puma reacted quickly to a header from a set piece and was able to palm the ball away from goal. Nielsen is one of five nominees this week which also includes Bill Hamid (DC), Luis Robles (NY), Clint Irwin (COL) and Chris Wingert (RSL). Single-day tickets for the Flatlands Country Music Festival at Sporting Park from Sept. 12-14 are on sale to the general public, starting as low as $59 each. The new country music and camping festival, presented by Marquee Events and Sporting Club, will feature performances from several of the most popular artists in country music over three days.
Luke Bryan, Darius Rucker, Rodney Atkins, Thompson Square and Kevin Fowler will perform on Friday, Sept. 13. Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert, Kellie Pickler, Love and Theft, and JT Hodges will then take the stage on Sat., Sept. 14.
