Hornets fall in MIAA Tourney Championship Save Email Print

May 11, 2008 -- The #4 ESU baseball team fell 4-3 to Central Missouri in the winner take all championship game in the MIAA post-season tourney. The Hornets were outhit eight to seven by the Mules and committed two errors in the game. The Hornets stranded eight runners on base including two runners in the sixth and the seventh.

At the plate Keith Hernandez went three for four with one RBI as Conner Crumbliss finished two of four with one run scored. Anthony Dreiling and Brian Majors added the other RBI's for the Hornets. Richard Timbrook went 5.1 innings giving up six hits and allowing three runs as he moved to 6-1 on the season. Brock Nehls came on to pitch final 3.2 innings for the Hornets in his third bullpen appearance of the season.

The Hornets, who are now 47-8 on the season will now await the announcement of the NCAA Division II Regional Field. The Hornets came into the weekend standing atop the Central Region standings. The Hornets were the regular season MIAA Champions with a MIAA record 32 wins in conference.
