MIAA Names Players of the Week

Harris, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound junior from Bossier City, La., averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.0 steals as the Bearcats won their first two conference games and extended their win streak to seven last week.

In a 67-66 win at No. 11 Northwest Missouri State Wednesday (Jan. 2), Harris scored 15 points with eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. His back-to-back treys in the second half gave SBU an eight-point lead with 1:07 left.

Harris scored 28 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field in a 93-70 home win over No. 23 Emporia State Saturday (Jan. 5). He was 7-of-11 from the three-point arc, and added seven rebounds (four offensive), six assists and four steals

He was 6-of-9 from long range in the first half and had 19 points as SBU claimed a 15-point halftime lead, 45-30.

Harris, who was 11-of-18 from the three-point line (61.1 percent) for the week, is a graduate of Airline High School and transferred to SBU from Vincennes (Ind.) University.

MIAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week

For the week of play ending Jan. 6

Truman State University

Mueller, a 5-foot-11 junior from Springfield, Ill., averaged 26.5 points and 12.5 rebounds as the Bulldogs won twice last week to record their best start in school history (10-1).

She had 27 points and 12 rebounds to go with two blocked shots as Truman knocked off previously undefeated and 16th-ranked Missouri Southern, 68-55, Wednesday (Jan. 2) at Pershing Arena.

Mueller scored 15 points and had eight rebounds in the first half, as the Bulldogs held a 35-29 lead.

In a 76-64 home win over Pittsburg State Saturday (Jan. 5), she scored 26 points and logged 13 rebounds with two blocks. She had nine of Truman's first 16 points and finished the first half with 16 of the Bulldogs' 29 points as they trailed PSU at the break by three.

For the week, Mueller shot 57.6 percent (19-of-33) from the field and 83.3 percent (15-of-18) from the foul line.

Mueller, who now has an MIAA-best seven double-doubles this season, is a graduate of Springfield High School.
