KU fans gathered at Forbes Field Friday afternoon to welcome home the Orange Bowl Champion football team got a bonus - a sendoff for the KU basketball team.
The Jayhawk hoopsters take on Boston College Saturday morning. Their flight left Forbes around 1 pm Friday. The football team landed from Miami around 2:30 pm.
Asked his reaction to the football team's victory, Coach Bill Self said, "We're pretty good!"
Self says the football team's success benefits all of KU. He says the enthusiasm over winning in one area spills over into others.
KU players high-fived fans as they made their way through the terminal, also seemingly excited over the football team's homecoming. However, they didn't have a group watch party of the watch bowl.
"No, we did that for the Missouri game and I'm a little superstitious, so we didn't do that again!" Self said.
