Governors Sebelius and Kaine place friendly wager on Orange Bowl

Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius and Virginia Governor Timothy Kaine have placed a friendly wager on the game between the University of Kansas and Virginia Tech in the 2008 Orange Bowl.

"The Kansas Jayhawks have proven themselves to be outstanding students and incredible athletes. Pairing that depth of talent with their nationally acclaimed coach is a winning combination. Coach Mangino and his team have made our state very proud and I look forward to cheering them on," said Sebelius.

Governor Kaine is a well-known fan of Virginia Tech, and despite having grown up in a city very close to Kansas, his allegiance isn?t changing for the Orange Bowl. In the battle of the birds, Governor Kaine comes down in the Hokie?s nest. "I don't want to jinx them, but I think Tech's defense is going to handle KU pretty easily," Governor Kaine said. "Tech's defense is more than KU has seen."

After Virginia loses to Kansas, Governor Kaine will send Governor Sebelius a Virginia ham. In the improbable event that KU is defeated Governor Sebelius will send Governor Kaine a delicious assortment of Kansas beef.

The Orange Bowl is Saturday, January 3 in Miami, Florida. Governor Sebelius will be attending the game, cheering on the Hawks on behalf of the great State of Kansas.
