Sporting News Names Brady Sportsman of the Year

ST. LOUIS (AP) _ New England quarterback Tom Brady, the odds-on
favorite to win the NFL most valuable player award, today is named
sportsman of the year by Sporting News.

Brady was chosen by the magazine's editorial staff. Brady has led the Patriots to a 14-0 record and within two game of becoming the first team since Miami in 1972 to finish the regular season undefeated. He's first in the NFL in touchdown passes with 45 _ he needs four in the final two games to match Peyton Manning's record set three years ago.

Brady also leads the league in several other categories.
He was also the St. Louis-based publication's sportsman of the
year in 2004. San Diego running back LaDainian Tomlinson won the
award last season.
