The San Diego Padres have agreed in principle
to acquire outfielder Jim Edmonds and cash from the St. Louis
Cardinals for a minor leaguer. The Padres worked out the tentative
deal hours after breaking off talks with center fielder Mike
Cameron. The trade is awaiting approval by the commissioner's
office because it will involve around 1-million dollars going from
the Cardinals to the Padres, according to a source with knowledge
of the deal.
