CHIEFS TE TONY GONZALEZ AND SHADOW BUDDIES FOUNDATION TEAM UP FOR SPECIAL HOLIDAY MEAL
WHO: Chiefs Eighth-Time Pro Bowl TE Tony Gonzalez and his teammates along with the Shadow Buddies Foundation in support of 156 families from El Centro Inc, Academy for Children. There will also be representatives on hand from Price Chopper and Osage Marketing.
WHAT: In recognition of his Hispanic heritage, Gonzalez and the Shadow Buddies Foundation will ensure that local families with similar backgrounds have a happy holiday. Being held in conjunction with JC Harmon’s annual Christmas Program, Gonzalez and the Shadow Buddies Foundation have joined with Price Chopper, and Osage Marketing to serve the families of El Centro a traditional American holiday meal as well as tamales. All families will also receive a $75 Price Chopper gift card to make sure these individuals have a proper holiday fest on their own later this month. The evening will even include a live mariachi band.
Gonzalez will also present the school with brand new classroom materials and toys. Through the Tony Gonzalez Foundation and Shadow Buddies Foundation several enhancements will be provided to the school while it is closed for the holiday season. This includes: fresh paint, cleaned and waxed floors, cleaned windows, additional woodchips for their playground, upgraded materials for each classroom, and a new dryer.

WHY: Since 1998, The Tony Gonzalez Foundation has focused on assisting children with emotional and educational support by helping challenged children through the Shadow Buddies Foundation. Tony takes pride in being the only NFL player to have his own Shadow Buddy. Designed to be “just like me”, the Gonzalez Buddies are boys with medium skin tone and dressed in a Kansas City Chiefs print hospital gown with his name and number 88 screened on the back. Over 22,400 of Tony’s Buddies have been distributed to children and seniors.
