December 5, 2007-Newman University connected on 17 three pointers as they upset #7 Emporia State 93-89 in overtime in White Auditorium Wednesday night.
The Hornets were down 74-67 after NU's Kyle Smith hit four free throws following two technical fouls on ESU head coach David Moe. Caleb Tegtmeier hit a three pointer with 13 seconds to pull ESU within a point at 77-76. Smith hit two more free throws with nine seconds left and ESU's Andrew Davison connected on a three pointer with three seconds left to send the game to overtime.
The Jets converted on six of six free throws in the overtime as ESU lost for the first time this year.
The Hornets travel to #22 Neb.-Omaha on Saturday. Tip-off from Sapp Fieldhouse is set for 7 p.m.
