Sports drink pioneer passes away

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ The man who invented Gatorade has died
of kidney failure. Dr. Robert Cade was 80.

Cade's death today was announced by the University of Florida.
That's where he and other researchers created the sports drink in
1965 to help the school's football players replace carbohydrates
and electrolytes lost through sweat while playing in swamp-like
heat.
