November 26, 2007-In the second best defensive effort of the David Moe era, the #23 Emporia State Hornets defeated Ottawa University Braves 77-43 on Monday night in White Auditorium. Ottawa did not reach double figures until the 7:29 mark in the first half and were held to .271 shooting for the game.
The Hornets opened up a 16-1 lead to start the game with scoring from four of five starters. The lead reached 38 points at 65-27 with 12:38 left in the game.
Wes Book led all scorers with 22 points, 13 of which came in the first half. Caleb Tegtmeier had 13 points and eight rebounds while DeAndre Townsend added 10 points and nine assists with no turnovers.
ESU is back in action on Wednesday, December 5 when the play host to Newman. Tip-off from White Auditorium is set for 7 p.m. It will be the last home game for the Hornets until they host Washburn on January 9 in MIAA play.
