Blue Valley West wins Kansas Class 5A Championship

EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) _ Mark Rogers returned a punt for a touchdown
and Josh Schwart added an interception return as Blue Valley West
defeated Bishop Carroll 31-to-19 in the Kansas Class 5A State
Championship at Welch Stadium.
Rogers twisted off two tacklers, then ran 52 yards for the
touchdown in the second quarter, helping Blue Valley (13-0) take a
10-to-0 lead.
The Jaguars built on their momentum when on the next possession
J.D. Holland forced a fumble, leading to a Todd Harmon 2-yard TD
run.
Bishop Carroll scored two touchdowns in the final three minutes.
Brett Steven finished with passing 327 yards for Bishop Carroll
(11-2).
