TOPEKA, Kan. – The No. 6 Washburn Lady Blues rolled to a 79-47 win over C.W. Post in their first game of the Capitol Plaza/AM 580 WIBW Holiday Classic in Lee Arena.
Washburn started off slow trailing the Pioneers 8-2 only four minutes into the game, but they would outscore C.W. Post 41 to 14 the remainder of the opening half to take a 43-22 lead into the break.
Washburn held the Pioneers to 9 of 26 shooting in the second half while the Lady Blues were 14 of 31 from the field.
Amanda Holmes led the Lady Blues with 16 points while grabbing a game-high six rebounds. Jessica Mainz had 10 points and recorded four steals in 15 minutes of play.
The Lady Blues will be back in action on Saturday as they will take the No. 12 ranked Texas A&M-Commerce Lions at 3 p.m. in Lee Arena.
