Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Wednesday that the club has agreed to terms of a three-year contract with RB Gilbert Harris, adding him to the club’s 53-man roster from the practice squad. Per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available. To make room for Harris on the 53-man roster, RB Priest Holmes was placed on Injured Reserve. In addition, Kansas City added RB Jackie Battle to the club’s practice squad.
Harris (6-2, 235) attended training camp with the Chiefs in 2007 and was on the practice squad for the first 10 weeks of the season. He also caught 48 passes for 350 yards (7.3 avg.) and two TDs. Harris prepped at Churchill High School in San Antonio, Texas.
Battle (6-2, 238) signed with Dallas as a rookie free agent in 2007 and attended training camp with the Cowboys, but was released prior to the start of the regular season. Battle finished his career at the University of Houston setting a school record with 31 rushing TDs. In 41 collegiate games, Battle tallied 441 carries for 2,120 yards (4.8 avg.) with 31 TDs.
