MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Kansas State women’s golf coach Kristi Knight announced Tuesday the signing of Laura Hildebrandt, Paige Osterloo and Kristen Dorsey to National Letters of Intent (NLI) for the 2008-2009 school year.
“These three young ladies have talent, competitive spirit and great work ethics,” Knight said. “They will be a tremendous asset to our program the next four years. They all know how to win. Not only have they won golf tournaments, but they have also been a part of championship teams in other sports. This game can throw a lot of adversity at you on any particular day. These three players have the attitude and heart it takes to handle it.”
Hildebrandt is from Ancaster, Ontario, Canada, and plans on majoring in education. She is the 2007 Ontario Junior Stroke Play Champion and Match Play Champion. Hildebrandt also is a member of the 2007 Royal Canadian Golf Association National Girls’ Team. She tied for second at the 2007 AJGA Corse Max/Philadelphia Runner Junior Classic after shooting 72-68-76—216. The Canada native also plays defenseman for her varsity high school hockey team.
“Laura has a great short game and a calm, confident demeanor on the course,” Knight said.
Osterloo is from Rapid City, South Dakota, and will major in engineering. She is the 2007 South Dakota Junior Girls Champion after shooting rounds of 69 and 77. Osterloo was the 2006 Greater Dakota Conference Champion with scores of 68 and 70. She was the 2006 Wells Fargo Junior Tour Champion, where she won all 18 events. Osterloo also helped her volleyball team with the state championship in fall 2007.
“Paige is a good ball striker with a great attitude and a fighting spirit on the course,” Knight said.
Dorsey is a native of Gulf Breeze, Florida, and plans on majoring in business. She is a four-time letter winner for the Gulf Breeze Dolphins and is the 2007-2008 team captain. Dorsey won the 2007 NWFL First Tee Competition on July 16th with an 18-hole round of 70. Dorsey also won the 2007 Optimist Qualifier with rounds of 73 and 75. She placed second out of 110 competitors in the 2007 Optimist Qualifier long-drive contest. Dorsey was the high school district champion in 2006 after shooting a 75.
“Kristen has great distance off the tee and loves to compete,” Knight said.
