#16 Hornets fall 3-1 to TSU in regional semi-final

November 16, 2007 -- The #16 Hornet volleyball team fell by a score of 3-1 to Truman State in the South Central Region Semi-Finals. Truman and ESU played to a deadlock 14 times in the first game before the Bulldogs outlasted the Hornets 35-33. In game two the Hornets took the lead at 15-14 and never relinquished it on their way to a 30-27 victory. The Hornets stormed back to tie game three at 15-15 but wouldn't get any closer as Truman came up with a 30-28 win. In the fourth game the Hornets trailed 10-4 before coming back to tie that match at at 15-15 and would hold a slight edge at 26-25 before Truman scored five straight to earn the 30-26 win.

Arica Shepard had her 16th career 20+ kill match as she had 20 for the second time the regional and ended with 19 digs. She finished the season with 613 kills, good for third all time in a single season. Megan Koster had 13 kills and a match high 24 digs and was joined in double figure kills by Brittney Miller and Hannah Carter who both had 11. Amy Byfield finished with 23 digs to tie a single season mark as she recorded her 34th double figure dig match of the season. Ting Liu, who set a new single season assist record during last night's match, finished with 58 assists finishing with 1,792 on the season. Liu finishes her season with a new single season record in assists per game, while Shepard set a new kills per game mark.

Allie Cherven and Lauren Graybeal had 15 kills each to pace the Bulldogs. Amanda Holliday finished with 29 assists to go along with 18 digs.

The Hornets finish the season 27-9 and will await their final ranking when the next CSTV/AVCA Poll is released on November 14th.
