Lady Blues drop to sixth in latest national poll

The Lady Blues earned their ninth straight top 10 ranking after being voted sixth in the AVCA national poll released Monday. Washburn (33-2) dropped two spots in the poll after earning its highest-ever ranking of fourth last week.

The Lady Blues, ranked for 51 straight weeks now, split a pair of matches last week. Then-No. 17 Emporia State beat WU to move up the 15th but the Lady Blues bounced back to top Southwest Baptist to go 1-1 during the week.

Washburn will host Missouri Western State Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Lee Arena in the first round of the MIAA Postseason Tournament. The winner will advance to the semifinal Friday at the site of the highest seeded team in the East Division that advances. No. 1 seed Truman is ranked fifth this week while second-seeded Central Missouri is eighth.
