The No. 4 Lady Blues will host Missouri Western State Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Lee Arena in the first round of the MIAA Postseason Tournament. The winner will advance to the semifinal that will be hosted by the top seed in the East Division.
Washburn (33-2) finished first in the MIAA West with a 12-1 conference record while the Griffons finished 10-21 overall and 2-11 in the East to earn the fourth seed out of their division.
The Lady Blues have won the West Division the last two years and they have won two MIAA championships before the conference tournament started, but they will be looking for their first postseason tournament title. Washburn advanced to the final of the tournament last year, hosting all three rounds and beating Northwest Missouri and Central Missouri before falling to Truman in the final.
