ESU Men 23rd In The Nation In Pre Season Poll

November 1, 2007--For the third time in the last four years the Emporia
State men are in the top 25 in the first NABC Top 25 Poll of the year.
However this is the first time the NABC has put out a preseason poll for
Division II. The Hornets are ranked #23 in the NABC Poll.

ESU returns four of five starters from last year*s team that went
21-8 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in four
years. The Hornets are led by seniors DeAndre Townsend, a first-team
All-MIAA and All-South Central Region pick at guard, and Wes Book, one
of only two returning players to rank in the top ten of the MIAA in
scoring and rebounding.

The Lady Hornets are ranked #3 in the WBCA Preseason Poll, making
Emporia State the only MIAA school to have both ther men's and women's
teams ranked in their respective coaches preseason top 25. ESU is one of
just five schools nationwide to have both teams ranked and one of only
three football playing schools.

The Hornets will see their first action of the exhibition season
tonight at NCAA Division I #14 Texas A&M. Tip-off from College Station,
Texas is set for 7 p.m.
