Fahey, Mainz Named CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine First team All-District

For the second season in a row, junior defender Lisa Fahey was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine First team All-District college team as voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. Joining Fahey on the first team is junior forward Jessica Mainz. Both student-athletes will advance to the national ballot. Fahey was a third team Academic All-American selection last season.
Fahey currently has a 3.81 GPA in biology and she has started all 62 games in her career at Washburn. This season, she has scored six goals on 20 shots and 14 shots on goal. She is tied for third all-time at Washburn with 62 games started and tied for fifth with 62 games played. She is also is eighth in goals scored all-time and 12th in points all time.
Mainz has a 3.5 GPA in elementary education and she has also started all 62 games in her career at Washburn. She owns 13 single-season Washburn records and 10 career records at Washburn including points (97), goals (41) and assists (15) for a career. This season, she has 15 goals and seven assists in 20 games.
The Lady Blues will be in action on Saturday in the first MIAA Postseason Tournament, starting at 3 p.m. in Warrensburg, Mo., where they will be taking on Truman. Washburn and the Bulldogs split their two regular season meetings this season with Truman winning 2-0 in Kirksville and the Lady Blues taking a 1-0 win in Topeka.
