MANHATTAN, Kan. – Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters will hold a Tracker Series Divisional Tournament at Tuttle Creek Reservoir on Sunday, May 3, 2008.
Sponsored by Manhattan Convention & Visitors Bureau, this crappie tournament is expected to attract teams of anglers from throughout the Midwest.
Tuttle Creek Reservoir was chosen due to interest from crappie clubs in Kansas wanting a national event. Tuttle Creek is known for its large slab crappie, many of which weigh between 1.5 and 2 pounds.
A seminar and registration will be held Friday, May 2, 2008 at the Clarion Hotel, located on Ft. Riley Boulevard in Manhattan. Registration will be from 5-7 p.m. and the seminar will follow at 7. Tournament registration is open to anyone.
The day of the tournament, anglers will fish from 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. The weigh-in will be held at the second-level parking lot above Wildcat Marina in Tuttle Creek’s Spillway State Park. All anglers must be in line by 3:30 p.m. The weigh-in will be open to the public.
A chance drawing for new truck for the public and anglers will be held by Dick Edwards Ford at the weigh-in. The Big-Fish contest will be sponsored by Seneca Wholesale Distributing and Flint Hill’s Beverage.
A kids’ fishing rodeo will be held in Tuttle Creek’s River Pond State Park at Willow Lake. The kids’ rodeo will be open to all children ages 12-and-under at no charge. Registration will be from 8-9 a.m. and fishing activities will follow from 9-11.
All participants should bring their pole and bait. Prizes and gifts will be available to all participants.
