Lady Blues picked 2nd in MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Washburn Lady Blues were picked second overall in the 2007-08 Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll which was released today at the conference media day today in Kansas City.
The Lady Blues received four first place votes, trailing Emporia State who picked up six first place votes and 78 points overall.
Northwest Missouri was third with 58 and Central Missouri was fourth with 51 points.
Missouri Southern was picked fifth with 50 points and last year's regular season champion, Missouri Western, was picked sixth with 42 points. Pittsburg State was seventh with 34 points, Fort Hays State was tied with Southwest Baptist for eighth with 22 points and Truman was tenth with 17 points.
Washburn finished last season 29-4 and 15-3 in the MIAA winning their third straight MIAA Postseason Tournament Championship while appearing in their third straight regional final. Washburn, who will have to replace six seniors and four starters, will have their first exhibition game on Nov. 1 at Kansas State.
