KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Kansas City tight end Tony Gonzalez says
hard work made him the NFL's all-time record holder in touchdown
catches by a tight end.
The Chiefs picked Gonzalez in the first round of the draft, but
he was just a part-time starter in his first year and dropped 17
passes his second season.
He says those first two season were humbling, and he felt that
he was becoming a bust.
Now he's an eight-time Pro Bowler and had two TD catches on
Sunday in the Chiefs 27-20 win over Cincinnati.
A three-yard TD pass from Damon Huard moved Gonzales past
Shannon Sharpe for the most touchdown catches by a tight end. A
26-yard scoring strike in the fourth quarter was his 64th career TD
Gonzales has 9,150 yards receiving, trailing Sharpe's tight end
record by 910.
Gonzalez has 100 or more yards in receptions in 20 games, four
behind Kellen Winslow's tight end record.
Gonzales needs 56 catches to match Sharpe's tight end record of
