For only the second time in Kansas High School history, a coach has claimed 300 football victories.
Sedan's 44-to-18 Friday night triumph over Neodesha gave Les Davis his 300th coaching victory. Davis has coached at Sedan since 1969, and now is 300-124-and-1 in football.
The state football prep record belongs to Edward Buller of Clifton-Clyde, who was 335-78-7 from 1940 to 1984.
In all sports, Davis has a state record 14,067 victories. He's second in basketball wins as well, with 655.
The basketball record is owned by John Locke of Natoma, who was 731-and-203 from 1933 to 1977. Davis' baseball teams won 512 games before he retired from coaching that sport.
