SPRINGFIELD, MO Oct 10, 2007 - A swarm of VW Beetles, buses and buggies will descend on the Ozarks as GROOVE (General Registry Of Ozarks Volkswagen Enthusiasts) is sponsoring its 14th Annual June Bug Jamboree.
The Jamboree will be June 6-7, 2008 on the grounds of American Legion Post 639, 2660 S. Scenic Avenue in Springfield, Mo.
The theme of the upcoming event is “The Stone Age” and includes a Volkswagen car show, live music, vendors, stereo sound off contest, engine sound off contest, slow drags, car corral, and RC (radio control) car contest. Friday night (June 6) camping is available on site.
Entries to the car show are divided into more than 30 classes with 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for each class as well as other special awards from “People's Choice” to "Best of" awards for the car show.
All car show entries must be Volkswagen powered or bodied.
Admission to the event is free and open to the public. Contests, camping and car show require nominal registration fees.
Proceeds of the event benefit Crosslines, a food and clothing bank project of The Council of Churches of the Ozarks.
